Funeral services for Donna Jean Cook, 91, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, were held May 8, 2024, at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer. Interment was at Field Creek Cemetery in Mammoth Springs. Mrs. Cook has family in Ozark County.
She died May 6, at Ashflat, Arkansas.
She was born on Sept. 17, 1932, in the Village of Stockton, Illinois, to Clarence Kent and Edna (Leopold) Kent. Donna lived a simple and content life, never needing or wanting things to be fancy. Her favorite hobbies included knitting, puzzle books, puzzles and reading Harlequin Romance books. Always happy and content with life, Donna had a warm and caring personality that endeared her to those around her.
Donna was married twice in her lifetime. Her first husband was Kenneth “Pete” West, and they were married on Feb. 2, 1953, in Pecatonica, Illinois. Her second husband was Hadley Cook, and they were married on April 14, 1962, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford, Illinois.
She was a dedicated member of the Union Hill Community Church of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, where she attended for over 30 years. Donna will be remembered for her kind heart, willingness to help others and her love for animals and her family. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her children: son James “Jim” West, daughter Cheryl Brown and husband Mike, and son Danny Cook and his wife Connie; grandchildren: Tonya, Jessica, Ronnie, James, Ben, Mary and Phillip “Phil”; great-grandchildren: Issac Lee, Adalynn and Koda; brother, Kenneth Kratzer; and her best friend, Ruby Bowers; along with many other loved ones.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth “Pete” West; husband, Hadley Cook; daughter, Misty Dawn Kelley; and stepdaughter, Beverly Ward.
