Doris Ellen Shoemaker 76, of Gainesville, died Aug. 12, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born Feb. 9, 1947, to James and Ederroda Johnson in Bluefield, West Virginia.
Doris married James J. Shoemaker Jr., and they had two sons, Michael and Steven. Doris was a homemaker, loving wife and mother. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
Doris is survived by her husband James Shoemaker of the home, and sons Michael Shoemaker of Gainesville and Steven Shoemaker of New Hampshire. She is also survived by Jamie Brightwell of Maryland.
Doris was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and Billy Johnson.
Cremation services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Homes, Gainesville.
