Irene Corp, 98

Funeral services for Irene Corp, 98, of Tecumseh, were held Nov. 16, 2024, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel in Gainesville with Wayne Stewart officiating. Burial was at the Sallee Cemetery.

She died Nov. 13, at Care Manor Nursing Home in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Catoosa, Oklahoma, to Jim and Birdie (Hodges) Wilson.

Irene married Isom Corp on Dec. 3, 1944. He preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1977. Irene drove a school bus for the Gainesville R-5 School District for 44 years. She also worked as an election official for Ozark County, made pies, fried pies and took care of everyone. She loved quilting and helping the volunteer fire department. She especially loved cooking for the fishermen at her husband’s guide service many years ago. Irene was a member of the Dawt Church of Christ.

She is survived by son Ivan Corp of Grain Valley; daughter Cecelia (Jack) Stone of Clarkridge, Arkansas; grandchildren: Susan Corp of Indepedence, Chris Corp of Blue Springs, Cathy (Scott) Trauvenich of Shawnee, Kansas, Vickie (Theron) Oxley of Almartha, Terry Stone of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Tina (Bruce) Trogdon of Bruno, Arkansas, and Rick Hunt of Wichita, Kansas; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Other survivors include special friends of her son Jerry Corp who became family to Irene: Terry Wyrick, Jerry Feldman, Ronnie Battles and Stan White.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; infant son Larry Corp; son Jerry Corp (Vietnam); daughter Joyce Hunt; sons-in-law Charles E. Cameron and Don Hunt; daughter-in-law Janice Corp; grandson Jeff Cameron; and four siblings.
