James ‘Jimmy’ Simpson, 91

Graveside funeral services for James ‘Jimmy’ Eugene Simpson, 91, of Gainesville, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Howards Ridge Cemetery with Jimmy’s nephew Bryan Carter officiating.
He died May 4, 2024, at Gainesville Healthcare Center in Gainesville. He was born July 2, 1932, in Oklahoma, to Perry and Virgie Simpson.
On March 21, 1959, Jimmy married Hilda Carter in Willow Springs. Mr. Simpson proudly served in the United States Army; he was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from his business, Simpson Concrete which he passed on to his son, Greg, after many years of dedicated service to the community. Jimmy loved his family and friends, his cattle, farming and riding his tractor.
He is survived by his two children: Jeffery Simpson and Gregory Simpson and wife Shaun; five grandchildren: Kyle Simpson and wife Brandy, Anthony Cole Hughes and fiancé Audrey, Kristen Terry and husband Joe, Holly Simpson and Kinlee Simpson; three great-grandchildren: Nevaeh, Harmony, and Layne Simpson; three sisters: Lanelle Long, Sue Gragg, and Marveloi Carter; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, wife Hilda Simpson, sister Marie Lewis and brother Johnny Simpson, brothers-in-law: Emmett Lewis, Eugene Lewis, Wayne Cobb, Roger Long and Gene Carter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Howard’s Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
