Janet Lois Evans, 80

A graveside service for Janet Lois Evans, 80, of Gainesville, was held May 7, 2022, at the Clear Springs Cemetery near Tecumseh with Mason Eslinger officiating.

Janet died May 3, 2022, at the Gainesville Healthcare Center. She was born March 10, 1942, in Chicago, the daughter of Joseph and Mildred Shipla.

Janet enjoyed gardening and planting at her longtime Gainesville home. Neighbors and friends often commented on her well-cared for flower beds and lawn.

She was an exceptional grandmother and mother. She loved her family fiercely and supported her loved ones without question throughout their whole lives. Although she was not a risk taker herself, she often encouraged her family even through their more adventurous choices.

Janet especially adored and enjoyed spending time with her 3-year-old grandson, J.R. IV, who lovingly referred to her as his “Bamama.”

She was a genuine and honestly good person, taking pride in doing right by friends, neighbors and family.

There is no doubt that the world is a little dimmer without Janet’s quick-wit, wide smile and generosity. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her children: J.R. Evans III and his son J.R. IV of Gainesville, Wally Krueger and spouse Casey of Apple Valley, California, Joy Sellinger of Boulder City, Nevada; grandchildren Briana, Danielle Alexander and her spouse Paul, Chelsea Sellinger, Jake Sellinger, Jack Sellinger; and great grandchild Edison Wright Alexander.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband J.R. Evans II.

Memorial contributions may be made to Clear Springs Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
