Jaunita Strong, 91

Graveside funeral services for Jaunita Strong, 91, of Springfield, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, at the Pontiac Cemetery. She died Oct. 25 at Spring Ridge Assisted Living in Springfield. 

She was born June 14, 1934, near Gainesville, to Jasper and Eve (Mahan) Denton.

She was united in marriage to Larence Strong in 1952, and the couple spent a wonderful 71 years together until Larence’s death in 2023. Jaunita was a great wife, mother and neighbor. She was a devoted Christian and a member of the Cherry Street Baptist Church for several years. 

Jaunita is survived by daughter Deborah G. Whitesides and husband Dallas; son Larry L. Strong and wife Haylan; one granddaughter Lyssa; and one great-grandson, Seth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Eve Denton; and her husband, Larence Strong.

Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
