Jean Evelyn Strothmann, 96

Jean Evelyn Strothmann, 96, of Columbia, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Boone Hospital Center. A memorial service will be held in mid-May.
Jean was born Dec. 17, 1927, to Lawrence Woodford Doran and Mildred L. “Melton” Doran in Ozark County.
Jean graduated from Nevada High School in 1945 and continued her education at the University of Missouri in Columbia, where she received her bachelor’s degree in education in 1950.
Jean married the love of her life, Harvey Strothmann, on June 11, 1950, in Columbia, and they had three children: Wayne, Glen and Sharon.
Jean was a member of the Columbia United Church of Christ for many years.
Jean worked at the Boy Scouts Council Office and later worked at the University of Missouri Clothing and Textiles.
Jean loved to travel with her sister and her husband in their RV. She also enjoyed quilting with a group at church, but most of all Jean’s favorite thing to do in her free time was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her children: Wayne Strothmann and spouse Denise of Sunrise Beach and Sharon Renken and husband Jim of Cumming, Georgia; her daughter-in-law, Snezana Strothmann; grandchildren: Brandley Renken, Bryan Renken, Blake Renken, Brett Renken, Cara LiCausi, Kristen O’Farrell, Scott Strothmann and Noah Strothmann; great-grandchildren: Riely Renken, Harvey Renken, Emma Renken, Jude LiCausi, Cecilia LiCausi, Gemma LiCausi, Hayden O’Farrell and Owen O’Farrell; her siblings: Larry Doran and spouse Barbara, Betty Hopkins and spouse Bob, and Barbara McConnell and spouse Donald; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; her son, Glen; and her parents, Lawrence and Mildred.
