Jerry Ernest Williams, 92

Jerry Ernest Williams, 92, of Springfield, died peacefully at Missouri Veterans Home with his family by his side. He was laid to rest beside his loving wife, Ruth, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
He was born on June 29, 1933, in Springfield, to Roy and Elma Williams. Jerry grew up in Springfield and graduated from Central High School. After graduation, he spent four years in the Air Force, based in Salina, Kansas. On a blind date, he met Ruth Choitz. They were married in 1956 and spent 60 wonderful years together until her passing in 2016.
Jerry worked at Lily Tulip for 37 years. In his free time, he loved the lakes, whether it be fishing or skiing, he loved the water. He also enjoyed quail hunting, woodworking and stained glass. He liked to repair things and teach other people how to do it.
He is survived by his children: Mike Williams and wife Robin, of Clever, Susan Shipley and husband Monte, of Dora and Sheri Abernathy of Battlefield; five grandchildren: Ashleigh Yoder and husband Tim, Drew Dreckman and wife Jessi, Gina Volkmer and husband Paul and Alyson and Tyler Abernathy; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Lee Roy Williams and wife Sara; and other extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ruth.
