Juanita Flo Woolf, 80

Juanita Flo Woolf, 80, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, March 10, 2023.

She was born July 11, 1942, in West Plains, to Elda and Rexie Warren. Juanita was raised in Dora, where she went to Dora School and met her high school sweetheart Bobby Woolf.

Known as “John-ita” by her daddy, she lived up to that name throughout her life. In addition to working on the watermelon farms during her adolescence, she spent 10 years at the Gay Gibson Garment Factory, owned several rental properties in the Kansas City metropolitan area, roofed houses, and never found a home improvement project she couldn’t tackle or a person she couldn’t sell something to. Those who had the privilege of knowing her knew that she spent most of her time raising children, whether they were her children, nieces and nephews, foster children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, or neighbors that found their way to her home. With them she shared her love of cooking, music, sewing, garage-saleing, and Hostess cupcake eating. She was a faithful member of the Victory Hills Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by three children, Shelly Thoman, Kelly Gray and LeeAnn Card; three sisters, Roberta Barnett, Noma Risley and Anna Chilton; a brother, Dwaine Warren; nine grandchildren,  and 16 great-grandchildren;  as well as many nieces and nephews and countless foster children. In addition to her family, she leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion to God and enough stories to fill several books.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elda and Rexie Warren, brother Gerald Warren and son Bobby Allen Woolf.

In lieu of flowers, the family recommends sending a thoughtful message to someone you love and making a memorial contribution to a local food bank.
