Larry Don Vanpool, 77
A celebration of life for Larry Don Vanpool, 77, of Tecumseh, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 27, 2024, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville. All who loved Larry are invited to gather and share memories.
He died on Oct. 11, at Baxter Health in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born on Sept. 24, 1947, in Peach Orchard, Arkansas, to Osmer and Edna Vanpool.
On Dec. 29, 1967, Larry married the love of his life, Molly Jane Holder, in St. Louis. He proudly served his country as a Vietnam War veteran and carried that honor and pride of his service throughout his life. His dedication and bravery during that time became a lasting source of strength for him.
Larry’s life was centered around love, family and integrity. He was a devoted husband and father and was admired for his kindness and generosity. His passion for fishing and hunting brought him great joy over the years.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Molly, of the home; his daughter Lynn Matheney of Paragould, Arkansas; two sons: Don Vanpool of Orlando, Florida, and Jesse (Sarah) Vanpool of Hallsville, Texas; nine grandchildren: Valerie, Brandy, Bridgett, Brent, Dolan, Harley, Isabelle, Jack and Riley; nine great-grandchildren; siblings Linda Lindsey of Imperial and Roger (Pat) Vanpool of Warrenton; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Herman, Jimmy, Randy and John Vanpool; and sisters: Juanita Clayton, Dorothy Renfro, LaVada Hearring and Wanda and Gazelle Vanpool.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home of Gainesville.
