Larry Matlock, 63

Larry Matlock, 63, a new resident of Pontiac, died suddenly on April 26, 2025. He was born Feb. 5, 1962, to Larry and Mary Matlock in St. Louis.
Larry spent his life living in different areas of Colorado. While in high school, Larry took on a job for the city of Rifle, digging grave sites and performing various jobs in the cemetery. After graduating from high school, he continued his job with the city until his retirement. During his 37 years employed there, he did a little bit of everything. He picked up trash, patched streets, worked both water and sewer lines, and plowed snow. You name it, he did it.
In 1991, he married Janice Barner and they created a family with her son from a previous marriage. Janice was born in Gainesville to L.C. and Jean Barner. Larry was an awesome father to Janice’s son, Jason Matlock.
Larry’s passion was the outdoors: fishing, hunting and anything else that he could enjoy while in nature. Larry helped other people without question. He enjoyed bringing joy to others.
Larry is survived by his father, Larry Matlock; his wife Janice; son Jason; older sister Cindy and husband Jeff; younger sister Daisy and husband Jon; granddaughter Shantelle; along with many nieces, nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, L.C. Barner; his mother, Mary Matlock.
