Lois Faye Mudd, 97

 

A graveside service for Lois Faye Mudd, 97, of Richland, Washington, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland, Washington.

She died peacefully Jan. 28, 2024, surrounded by her family.

She was born Oct. 12, 1926, in Longrun, to Tom and Defsia Clayton. She was the seventh of 10 children. She was raised on a farm and developed many life skills growing up.

As an adult, she ventured with some of her relatives to Hanford, Washington, to find employment. There she met the love of her life, Don Mudd. They married in 1948, had two children, Janice and Randy, and made their home in Richland, Washington. Lois loved being a wife, mother and homemaker. She loved to sew, quilt, crochet, garden, read her Bible, write poetry and go to the ocean.

She worked outside the home for a few years at Christ the King School and J.C. Penny. After her husband died in 1990, Lois began her life as a retiree. She volunteered at the Richland Senior Center, became a mall walker, enjoyed senior dances, attending the theater at The Richland Players and being with her children and grandchildren. She was a Christian and loved Jesus dearly. She was a member of Richland Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter Janice Long and husband Wayne; son Randy Mudd and his wife Peggy;  her grandchildren: Denise Lang and spouse Will, Darcie DeCoria and spouse Sylvan, Doug Long and spouse Shelley, Carli Mudd, Hannah Cratty and spouse Jeremy, and Paul Mudd; great-grandchildren: Kelly, Caroline and Regan Lang, Emilie DeCoria and Ethan Long; brother Rayford Clayton; nieces: Linda Roberts, Freda Dixon, Eunice Morrow, Wilene Mills and Darlene Naugle; and nephews: Paul and Joe Roberts; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Don; great-granddaughter Penny DeCoria; and her eight brothers and sisters: Clifford, Tilford, Roxie, Brooksie, Letha, Lena, Trellis and Troy.
