Lora Jean Nix Payne, 90

Lora Jean Nix Payne, 90, of Gainesville, died Aug. 11, 2023, at Baxter Health in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was a resident of the Gainesville Health Care Center at the time of her death. A memorial service for family and friends is being planned in Texas sometime in November. 

She was born July 31, 1933, in Hargill, Texas. 

Lora loved her family and was a homemaker. She was a business partner with Earl Nix. The pair owned 12 convenience stores.

She is survived by daughter Ruby Lee and her husband Henry Winslow, adopted son Rodney Summerville; grandchildren Nancy and Connie Winslow, Carrie and Randal Crawford and Anthony and Rosie Winslow; great grandchildren John Matthew, Jacob Crawford, Sarah Crawford, Chase Annalese and Leanna Winslow.

She is preceded in death by Troy Earl Nix, Betty Jean Nix, Anthony Earl Nix, Manard Payme and her parents Ruby Cecel and Edith Keenar.
