Retha Trent, 99

A memorial service for Retha Reba Trent, 99, of Squires, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava with Pastor Louis Stern Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Trent died peacefully Nov. 1 in Thornfield, with her family by her side.
She was born April 28, 1921, in Foil, the daughter of Johnnie and Emily Plumb Wilkinson. On Aug. 17, 1940, in Ava, she married Archie Rex Trent.
Mrs. Trent was a Christian and a member of Mount Lebanon General Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the guitar and the harmonica at the same time. She also enjoyed quilting and gardening, and she loved her flowers.
She is survived by her four children, Karen DeGase of Ava, Marion “Sonnie” Trent of Thornfield, Rex Trent and wife Diana of West Plains, and Donna Trent of Quinlan, Texas; her sister, Myrtle Hanock of Midland, Michigan; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Archie; her sister, Gladys Turner, formerly of Kansas City; her brother, Elga Wilkinson, formerly of Great Bend, Kansas; and her son-in-law, James DeGase.
Burial of Mrs. Trent’s ashes will be at a later date in a private service. Memorials may be made to the Mount Lebanon General Baptist Church. Online condolences may be expressed at clinkingbeardfuneralhome.com.
