Sharon J. Smith, 83

Sharon J. Smith, 83, formerly of Gainesville, died peacefully while reading a book in her room at an assisted living facility in Springfield on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2024. Reading was always one of her favorite pastimes. She will be interned in the family plot in Pleasant Hope on Jan. 8, 2025. 

Sharon was born June 24, 1941. She was raised in Springfield and graduated from Hillcrest High School. Later in life she married Elbert Smith, who was a sheriff’s deputy in Ozark County. The family moved to Gainesville in the summer of 1974, and she began working at Baxter Lab in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Sharon worked at the lab until her retirement. She resided at her home in Hardenville near Highways 160 and J highways for many years until retuning to Springfield to live with family.
