Shirley Louise Cockman, 77

Shirley Louise Cockman, 77, of Gainesville, died Aug. 29, 2023, at her residence. The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date. 

She was born on June 29, 1946, in Couch, to Herbert Jake Summers and Edith Mary (Bates) Summers. 

She was a darling wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. 

Shirley married her husband Larry Keith Cockman on March 7, 1964 at the Cave Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Together they had three children. She was loved and will be dearly missed by all.

Shirley is survived by two daughters: Patricia Faye Britt and husband Dean of Gainesville and Lavonda Renee Hardwick of Southfork; one son, Leland Keith Cockman and wife Rachel of Baker City, Oregon; three grandchildren: Randy Keith Britt and wife Shantel, Crystal Nicole Thayer and husband Bradley and Kelsey Marie Hardwick; six great grandchildren: Levie Britt, Johni Thayer, Lane Tackitt, Jaxon Britt, Paisley Tackitt and Saylor Thayer; two sisters: Ella May Oakes and Ines Jean Hall; one brother: Mark Anderson Summers; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her mother and father; one brother James Lee Summers; and two sisters Mary Evelyn Todd and Emmer Elizabeth Summers.

Cremation services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
