Wilda Sue Martin, 87
A celebration of remembrance for Wilda Sue Martin, 87, of Colorado, formerly of Dora, was held May 18, 2024, at the West Plains Civic Center.
She died May 13, in Aurora, Colorado, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Wilda Sue was born July 24, 1936, in Ava to Roger and Jayle Roy. She grew up in Dora and could be seen from an early age at Roy’s, the family store.
Sue married her high school sweetheart, Glain E. Martin, in 1954. They moved shortly thereafter to Wichita, Kansas, and ultimately made their home in Colorado with their six children.
Wilda sewed dresses for the girls and loved needle work. She was an amazing cook and made the best biscuits anywhere. She volunteered as a poll worker and was active in the local Republican party. She was a devout Christian who stood by her faith and was wise in the scripture.
Sue is survived by Janice Martin, the wife of her son Terry, Karolyn Martin of Colorado, Leah and husband Pete Sorenson of Alaska, Dianne and husband Javier, of Florida, Dave Martin of Dora; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sue was preceded in death by her mother and father, her four siblings, her husband Glain E. Martin, sons Terry Martin and Steve Martin and grandson, Nova J. Martin.
