She died May 20, at the Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was born Jan. 2, 1942, in Lakeview, Arkansas, to Floyd Allen and Lona Rachel (Hopper) Walton.
Winona was a 1960 graduate of Mountain Home High School. On March 1, 1969, she was united in marriage to Norman Britt. In 1975, the couple moved from Mountain Home to Gainesville with their three young children: Shawn, Jim and Gene. Winona worked for many years at Baxter Lab in Mountain Home where she made many life-long friends and acquaintances. She took great pride in her family and loved to talk and brag about them to anyone who would listen. Later in life, Winona took on the beloved title of Grandma Wynn, a role she filled whole-heartedly. Grandma Wynn’s house was always a safe haven for her grandchildren and their friends. She was always ready to make their favorite dish, give them a snack, let them relax and just be kids. She loved having her little house occupied with her grandchildren and made it her life’s mission for no one to ever be hungry!
She was loved and adored by her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her three children: Shawn Britt Nollen and husband Mike of Berryville, Arkansas, Jim Britt and wife Tina of Gainesville and Gene Britt and wife Penny, also of Gainesville; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Lona Walton; her husband Norman Britt; and three siblings George Walton, Doris Spitze, and Allen Walton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House, 774 Long St., Mtn. Home, AR 72653.
