Public meeting to discuss NHA designation to be held
Area residents concerned about 13 local counties being designated a National Heritage Area will have a chance to hear the matter discussed and voice their concerns at a meeting March 3 in Mountain View. Ozark, Howell, Texas, Wright, Dent, Douglas, Oregon, Shannon, Iron, Ripley, Carter, Reynolds and Wayne counties are being proposed for inclusion in the federal program initiated by the National Park Service.
Members of the West Plains Council on the Arts and Ozarks Preservation Inc., proponents of the designation, are scheduled to be present to discuss their views on the NHA. The Ozarks Property Rights Congress will discuss the matter from a landowners' viewpoint.
The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Mountain View community center at 125 East First Street in Mountain View.
