Jan Farmer Holbert, 80
Jan Farmer Holbert, 80, of Gainesville is believed to have died around March 1, 2019, at her home. No local services are planned.
She was born Nov. 29, 1938, in Amazonia, Missouri, the daughter of John and Catherine Carter Farmer.
Little is known about her early life. Around 2001, she retired from the Emerson plant in Ava. She had lived in the Gainesville area for several years. She had owned horses in her earlier years here. In 2008, she told the Times about taming and training a colt that someone had bought at a wild mustang sale in Wyoming, probably in 1999, that had ended up in Ozark County.
To friends here, she had acknowledged no other family members, so it’s not known what relatives, if any, survived her or preceded her in death.
As directed in her will, her ashes will be “scattered under a tree up on the hill.”
