The Gainesville High School marching band performed in the Jingle Bell Parade as part of the Wonders of Christmas celebration Saturday on the Gainesville square and in the Branson Adoration Parade on Dec. 3. The band has had a successful season so far, and has won several awards, said band director Christian Beck. The Gainesville Christmas concert is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18 with performances by the junior high and high school choirs and the junior and high school band. The music department is holding a bake sale and hot chocolate fundraiser before the show and at intermission. Also, the Youth Empowerment Program is asking those attending to consider bringing non-perishable food items to donate to the schools’ backpack program. Items such as peanut butter crackers, peanut butter, Kraft Easy Mac, canned ravioli or spaghetti, tuna, oatmeal packets, Carnation Instant Breakfast, juice boxes, individual pudding cups, granola bars and canned spaghetti sauce are appreciated and will be put to good use, oganizers say. No glass containers, please.
