Marching Bulldogs earn honors

The Gainesville Marching Bulldogs band has earned honors in its recent appearances this fall. In the USBands Southwest Missouri Regional Competition Oct. 14, it earned first place in Group 1 in the preliminaries and also was awarded best in Group 1 in overall effect, music, visual, color guard and percussion. The band advanced to the finals and placed 13th overall. On Oct. 21, the band won third place in Class 2A in the Pleasant Hope Pirate Power Class Parade competition. And on Oct. 28, the Marching Bulldogs placed fifth out of 11 Class 2A bands in the Missouri State University homecoming parade, ranking as the best band among those from larger Summit Conference schools including Fordland, Conway and Marion County-Early. The band’s next appearances will be Sunday, Dec. 3, in the Branson Adoration Parade and Saturday, Dec. 9, in Gainesville’s Jingle Bell Parade.
