Ozark County kids among winners at 46th annual Elks Hoop Shoot contest
Ozark Countians were among the winners in the area finals of the 46th annual Elks Hoop Shoot contest Saturday, Jan. 20, in the Mountain Home, Arkansas, Junior High School gym. The local winners will compete against other contestants in the state event in February in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The Elks Hoop Shoot contest is a national free throw shooting contest for youngsters age 8 through 13. The local competition is sponsored by the Mountain Home Elks Lodge 1714.
Ozark County winners included Addie Alms of Gainesville, first place in the girls age 8-9 division. Addie made 12 out of 25 baskets. The second place winner, Jozy Rehrig of Flippin, Arkansas, made nine out of 25 baskets.
Jace Headrick of Gainesville won first place in the boys age 8-9 division, making 19 out of 25 baskets. Aden Gaulding of Gainesville won second place, shooting 16 of 25 baskets. Harmon Johns of Gainesville won second place in the boys 10-11 division, making 16 of 25 baskets, two fewer than the first-place winner from Mountain Home.
No Ozark County competitors placed in the age 12-13 division.
