Bulldogs and Falcons run at Conway


The Dora Lady Falcons, coached by Sheree Nold, slipped past the Gainesville Lady Bulldogs by just one point to claim first place at the Conway Invitational cross country meet Thursday, Oct. 9. The Gainesville Bulldogs and the Dora Falcons represented Ozark County well at the Conway Invitational cross country meet held Thursday, Oct. 9. 

 

Varsity teams

Varsity girls toed the line in the first race of the afternoon. Gainesville sophomore Jessica Suit was the first runner to cross the finish line out of the 44 girls from 11 area high schools. She finished in 21:20.21. Other Gainesville girls who earned medals were senior Kaitlyn Kahl, 7th place, 23:06.37; and freshman Annabell Snelson, 12th place, 24:01.15. The average time for the Gainesville girls team was 24:18. The Lady Bulldogs team took second place at the meet.

The Dora girls team earned first place,  sliding past Gainesville by one point, with their average time of 24:15. Leading the way for the Falcons was junior Isabelle Martin, who finished in 6th place with a time of 22:53.7. Also earning medals for Dora were Kinley Luna, 9th place, 23:13.62; Haley Perkins, 13th place, 24:18.74; and Kara Anderson, 15th place, 24:33.97.

The Dora boys took third place at Conway, followed by Gainesville in fourth place.

Dora varsity boys earning medals were Daniel Tomlinson, 9th place, 19:09.68; and Jacob Perkins, 10th place, 19:13.43.

Medal winners for Gainesville were Archer Luna, 6th place, 18:47.76; and Cayden Emrick; 17th place, 20:16.33

 

Junior high teams

Gainsville Junior High Bulldogs boys team earned first place in the race, led by Aidien Thome, who crossed the finish line in first place, with a time of 9:41.58. Other medalists were Warren Estes, 11th place, 10:39..01; Brody Cooper, 15th, 10:57.59; and Dante Thome, 16th, 11:00.21.

The Gainesville junior high girls team earned a second place plaque. They were led by Prentice Creed, eighth place, 12:27.57. Also earning medals for Gainesville were Piper Riff, 9th place, 12:28.27; and Raine Similkier, 16th place, 13:01.19.

Dora’s junior high team placed third, led by Kinsen Mitchell who was the first place finisher in the race with a time of 11:17.74. Others medaling for Dora were Brynlee Rogers, 7th place; 12:24.47; and Brylee Jackson, 14th 12:46.50.

 

Elementary

Gainesville fifth grade Weston Strain  earned a medal for his second place finish in the elementary race. 

The Gainesville boys team took first overall with excellent performances from Malachi Lawrence, Tyson Banister, Draven Lawrence, Lucas Ferris, Hudson Blackburn, Cobi Adams and Fisher Adam.

The Gainesville girls team took second place, led by medalists Rori Miller, 9th place, 13:53.82; and Maggie Roberts, 10th place, 14:09.60. Other runners on the girls team were Esme Landry, Nara Rudich, Rose Mason, Dixielee Fulliolove and  Emery Hogan.
