Track and field district meets were held May 4

Ozark County’s three high school track and field teams competed in district meets May 4. 

Gainesville High School:

The Gainesville track team competed in class 2 district 5 tournament in Cuba, Missouri. Competitors who placed in the top 5 were: 

• 4x400 and 4x800 girls relay teams (third); 

• 4x800 meter boys relay team (fourth); 

• Aaron Kahl, 200 meter dash and 400 meter dash (fourth), 

• Tate Utchman, shot put (fourth);

• Macray Hambelton, javelin (fourth);

• Christian Ries, discus (fourth);

• Alyssa Smith, 3200 meter run (fifth); 

• Kaitlyn Kahl, 800 meter run (fifth); 

Those placing 1-4 will compete in the class 2 sectional 3 meet and state competition will be held at Blue Eye High School May 17-18. 

Dora High School:

The Dora track team competed in the class 1 district 1 tournament in Cape Girardeau. Competitors who placed in the top 5 include: 

• 4x400 and 4x800 girls relay teams (first); 

• Isabelle Martin, 1600 meter run and 3200 meter run (first);

• Cade Nold, 800 meter run and 400 meter dash (first); 

• Daniel Tomlinson, 3200 meter run (first), 1600 meter run (second);

• 4x400 meter boys relay team (second);

• 4x400 meter relay team (second);

• Joshua Nold, 1600 meter run (first), 800 meter run (third) and javelin (fifth);

• Haley Perkins, javelin (second), girls 4x200 relay team (second); 

• Kayden Jones, 800 meter run (second) and 1600 meter run (third); 

• Kinley Luna, 800 meter run (fourth); 

• Haley Perkins, 400 meter dash (fifth);

• Lathan Smith, 400 meter dash (fifth);

• Drake Arnett, discus (fifth);

Bakersfield High School:

The Bakersfield track and field team competed in the class 1 district 1 tournament in Cape Girardeau. Competitors who placed in the top 10 include:

• Jacob Watlington, long jump (fifth);

• Gage Samuels, 1600 meter run (fifth) and 800 meter run (seventh);

• Tyler Hodgson, high jump and 300 meter hurdles (sixth);

• Nathan Watlington, 200 meter dash and 100 meter dash (seventh).

Those placing 1-4 will compete in the class 1 sectional 1 track meet and state competition on May 17-18 at South Callaway High School.
