Track teams gear up for district meets

Track and field athletes from Ozark County are putting in their final workouts this week as they prepare to compete in their respective district tournaments on Friday, May 10.

Bakersfield and Dora High Schools will travel to Dexter to take part in the class 1 district 1 meet, while Gainesville will head to Cuba for the class 2 district 5 competition. All three teams are looking to post strong performances and advance athletes to sectional competition.

Bakersfield and Dora will face a deep field of competitors, including Norwood, Couch, Delta, Winona and Crystal City.

Meanwhile, Gainesville’s meet will feature familiar conference rivals such as Cabool, Hartville, Mansfield and Sparta, as well as Van Buren and School of the Ozarks.

Coaches across the county say their athletes are ready to compete after weeks of training and steady improvement throughout the season.

With a mix of seasoned athletes and rising talent, Ozark County’s track programs are aiming to leave their mark on the postseason.
