The two cent stamp is hereafter to be printed in green and bear the picture of Washington instead of Franklin.
The new school house is being completed as rapidly as possible. When finished it will be a fine building – that is what every-body says.
Luther Daniel brought us a sweet potato on Saturday which weight 4 1/2 lbs. It was raised on A. B. Daniel's farm near town and is a proof of the superior quality of the soil of this county.

The school house between Zanoni and Sycamore was destroyed by fire Tuesday night. The origin of the fire is unknown, but it is thought to be the work of an incendiary and if such it be, they think they have the person "spotted" who committed the crime.
Prosecuting attorney T. J. Luna went to Theodosia Wednesday to try some cases in justice Gibson's court. Four of the boys who fought and disturbed the peace at the Baptist Association pled guilty and paid a modest fine and the usual trimmings.
Tecumseh items – An engine crossed the river on the ferry the other day and the bottom of the boat gave way causing a bad leak, and the boat was going down rapidly and was almost ready to sink when it landed.

Prosecuting Attorney G. W. Rogers, Sheriff Endicott and deputies Joe Morrison and Asa Scott, district federal prohibition officers . . . of Springfield and deputy sheriff Joe. B. Aldrich of Howell county made a raid on a distilling outfit on Wednesday of last week near the mouth of Hurricane Hollow near the Bryant river and captured a large still. . . . The operators likely had been warned.

A holiday for the rural and urban schools of Missouri on Wednesday night, October 16th, as an aid to registrations under the Selective Service Act was proclaimed yesterday by Governor Loyd C. Stark.
With plans going forward at Little Rock, Ark. for letting of the contract for actual construction of the big dam at Norfork on White River near Mountain Home, Ark., a contract is to be awarded this week for construction of a railroad from the town of Norfork to the dam. Also, the contract covers construction of a government village in the west part of the town of Mountain Home to house employes.

Lone Ash items, Mrs. E. J. Upton correspondent – Charles K. Reynolds had the misfortunate while sawing wood of getting into a hornets nest. He got stung very badly. Vearl Mahan got into a yellow jacket nest while brushhogging the Turnbo Cemetery.

Torrential downpours Monday afternoon were common across Ozark County. . . . The basement of the Ozark County Courthouse. . . was flooded for over three hours Monday. . . . A courthouse employee, Tommy Taylor, reported about six inches of water in the Assessor's office. . . . Taylor said the new in-ground handicap ramp that was recently completed served as a river bed for the flood waters later Monday afternoon and carried the water into the basement offices.
