Top Dog Fitness Center celebrates 10th anniversary

Top Dog Fitness Center has been in business for 10 years, and owners Paula Rose and Karen Brantingham are hosting a celebration from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18. “This is our way of saying thank you to our community for the support we’ve received over the last decade,” said Rose. “Everyone is invited to stop by and tour the gym. We’ll have a certified personal trainer available to answer your fitness questions, and we’re offering a one-day-only membership special. Anyone who pre-pays for a six- or 12-month membership on the day of the celebration gets 15 percent off, and their name will be entered in a drawing for a free year of membership.”

American Council on Exercise–certified personal trainer Jamie Rigdon, owner of MsFit Personal Training in Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be on hand from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 18 to answer health and fitness questions. Rigdon says her training philosophy is simple: “No judging. We are all at the gym for different reasons … whether it be to lose weight, regain health, train for a competition or, for some, learn how to perform daily tasks again after injury or illness,” she said.

“We are all at different points on our journey. My job as a personal trainer is to meet you where you are and help you meet your goals based on your abilities. Strength training should not only be functional, but fun. I have always believed that if you surround yourself with people who inspire and motivate you, their enthusiasm will spill over and create an atmosphere of self-confidence and positive energy for everyone.”

Rigdon started her career as a personal trainer after her father was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome in 2005. “I wanted to be able to help him after he finished his extensive rehab. Fast-forward a few years, and training part-time for several years off and on finally led to a full-time career in personal training this year. I am so blessed to be doing what I love and making so many new friends. It is truly my passion, and I look forward to helping a lot more people achieve their goals in fitness and health.”

Rigdon encourages everyone to stop by and learn more about leading a healthy lifestyle during Top Dog’s anniversary event. For more information, call her at 870-404-7789.

Logan Strong, who recently earned his degree in exercise science from Missouri State University, will also be at the celebration from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 18 to discuss weightlifting and answer any other questions. Top Dog Fitness Center weightlifting club members can max out during that time period.

For more information about Top Dog, call Paula Rose, 417-989-1282, or Karen Brantingham, 417-683-7621.

Pontiac resident Karen Eubank, front, completes a workout session with personal trainer Jamie Rigdon, who will be on hand for Top Dog Fitness Center’s 10th anniversary celebration Aug. 18. “I’ve been training with Jamie for a few years now, and it has been the best thing I’ve ever done for my health and overall well-being. I’m leaner, stronger and healthier than I’ve been in a long time – and that’s a big deal for this ol’ gal,” said Karen. “She’s taught me how to vary my workouts, adding weight training and high-intensity interval training to my cycling love, and that variety has helped me achieve my weight loss goals and to actually enjoy working up a sweat (no, really!). She’s helped me train for 150- and 250-mile bike rides, and she’s helped me work through injuries.”
