Bad weather in the forecast
Ozark County Commissioners at their Monday meeting warned area residents to keep an eye on the weather this weekend, when the forecast calls for heavy rain, a wintry mix or ice. The commissioners said the unpredictable weather forecast leaves little doubt that a major storm is heading this way, beginning Friday. According to most forecasts, Ozark County lies in a narrow band between ice and rain, especially on Friday. Forecaster say a small shift either way could make a big difference in the kind of precipitation Ozark County will get. If the county gets mostly rain, the predicted downpours may cause flooding of low-lying roads and creek crossings, such as this bridge on T Highway, photographed by Wesley Simpson during flooding in November 2015. The commissioners reminded residents not to drive around roadway barriers or to attempt water crossings when creeks are high. They also urged residents to prepare for a possible ice storm by making sure they have plenty of stored water, canned goods, alternate heat sources and prescription medications.
