Big Bob's fishing report: May 10, 2017

Even with high and muddy water, anglers are having some success. Catfish are active on limb lines, trot lines and rod and reel. Look for eddies just out of the current with night crawlers or cut bait. Reports of big stringers have come in from both bank fishermen and boaters. If you can find a place to launch, white bass have been reported in Spring Creek and above the Theodosia bridge.

Bass fishing should be good as they will relate to any brush in the water and right now there are miles of brush and trees in both lakes. Top-water baits should shine as well as spinnerbaits. There is a new popper out that has a bill that makes it dive about a foot, and then it flutters back up. Good idea and time will tell if it is effective. Another company has made a bait that resembles a Red Fin, and they look like winners.

Finding a safe place to put your boat in may be a challenge. Both lakes have debris in all sizes, so be careful. Pay special attention to the pea tube on your motor as now is the time to suck something up and lose a lower unit.
