Dora news: May 30, 2018

We have had several rain showers in the last week, and we had some large hail on Saturday. As I write this on Sunday, it is a bright sunny day. We had trouble getting the lawn mowed in between showers. Some farmers have been able to mow and get some hay bailed. Randy and Gina finally got some garden planted but can’t work in it now.
Ladies Day was last Saturday, May 19, at the Ball Church of Christ. Our speaker was Jane Maynard from Mountain Home, Arkansas. We had a wonderful group of women from several congregations in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas. Jane has such inspiring messages for all ages on how to live in a troubled world.
We have several people in our area who need our thoughts and prayers. J.W. Collins had open-heart surgery in Springfield last week. We wish him and his wife, Linda, better health soon. She had hip replacement surgery not long ago.
Memorial Day weekend was a busy time. I went to West Plains to renew my driver’s and truck license. While there I bought more flowers. With my husband’s family and mine, I decorate at  four cemeteries. My daughter, Gina, and I decorated at the Martin and Sweeton Cemeteries on Saturday. While at the Blanche Cemetery on Friday, I visited with the Amos Tate family. He was a mail carrier in our area years ago. I remember helping my mother and sisters make crepe paper flowers that looked like roses. They were pretty until it rained.
