Former Douglas County deputy is indicted by grand jury
A former Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy has been indicted by a grand jury.
Douglas County Prosecuting Attorney Roger Wall says James Verow has been charged in a two-count indictment that includes one charge of harboring a fugitive and one charge of tampering with a witness in a judicial proceeding -- both being the same person, co-defendant Anna Moreland.
Wall says Moreland had an active felony warrant due to a grand jury indictment.
Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase said Verow was fired in 2010 after violating department policies.
The alleged crimes listed in the Nov. 4 indictment occurred between March 10, 2011 and April 28, 2011.
Verow's bond has been set at $60,000. He's being held in the Douglas County Jail.
