Bulldogs keeping an eye on districts

The Gainesville Bulldogs baseball team is heading into the final stretch of the regular season with determination and a winning record, sitting at 10-7 Monday afternoon. Under the leadership of Head Coach Blake Hobbs and Assistant coach Austin Thompson, the young team is using the momentum they’ve built in their growth as they gear up for the class 2 district 10 tournament, which begins May 15, in Gainesville - the first district tournament to be held at the school’s new sports complex.
Though recent games have included some tough match-ups, Gainesville has proven it can hold its own against strong competition.
On April 22, the Bulldogs took Conway into extra innings, narrowly falling 5-4. They rebounded with an exciting 6-5 extra-inning victory at Norwood on April 28, showcasing their resilience and ability to close out tight games.
Despite a 7-3 loss to Hollister and a hard-fought 3-0 game against Sparta, the Bulldogs have remained focused and continue to work on sharpening their fundamentals and playing as a cohesive unit.
The boys began this week with five games remaining in the regular season.
The Bulldogs traveled to Mansfield Monday and took two wins against the home team (7-2) and Fordland (5-4) in a competitive doubleheader. They’ll play road games at Ava (May 7) and Alton (May 12), with a home matchup against Seymour on May 8, rounding out the regular season.
The Bulldogs will look to carry its energy into the class 2 district 10 tournament, set for May 15–22, at Gainesville.
