GHS students take home more than $700,000 in scholarships

This year’s Gainesville High School senior class earned approximately $705,000 in scholarship money. GHS advisor Miranda Donley provided the Times with  the following listing:

 

Scholarships

Aiyden Argent: A+ scholarship of up to $12,600 and Toby Jim Peirce Memorial Scholarship of $600.

Yasmine Bray: A+ scholarship of up to $12,600, Schliemann Center Harlin Family Scholarship of $500, Century Bank Scholarship of $1,000, Dr. Hoerman Memorial Scholarship of $1,000, Mearle and Stella Luna Scholarship of $1,300 and Shelter Insurance scholarship of $2,000. 

Gwedolyn Broderick: A+ scholarship up to $12,600, US Bank Scholarship $5,000, GHS Alumni Scholarship $400 and National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship $20, Stockmens Bank Scholarship $500, National Propane Gas Foundation Scholarship $1,000, Shelter Insurance Scholarship $2,000. 

Maverick Bushner: A+ Scholarship up to $12,600. 

Nicole Donahue: A+ scholarship up to $12,600, Ozarks Healthcare Scholarship $500, Red Cross Scholarship $500, Missouri Western Univ. Griffon Guarantee Scholarship $750 and Missouri Western Univ. Griffon Guarantee A+ Scholarship $500. 

Hallee Donley: A+ Scholarship up to $12,600, Drury Trustees Scholarship $20,000 and John T. Anastasia Goodson: School of the Art Institute of Chicago Distinguished Scholar Scholarship $100,800 Hagan Scholarship $6,000 each semester up to $48,000; up to $8,000 study abroad during third year; and Scwabb account earning up to $15,000, Schliemann Center Martha Grant Scholarship $500, Toby Jim Peirce Memorial Scholarship $600, Benton and Genelle Breeding Scholarship $1,000 and Matthew J. England Scholarship $1,000.

Bryce Hambelton: C of O Cost of Education Scholarship $78,000, C of O Baseball Scholarship $5,912+ for 4 years; A+ Scholarship up to $12,600; Brad Hambelton Memorial Scholarship $500; Paul and Jean Herd Memorial Scholarship $500; and Stan and Carlene Morrison Memorial Scholarship $500.

Hailey Hill: A+ Scholarship up to $12,600, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship $200, and Klineline Memorial Scholarship $500. 

Brianna Hoffman: A+ Scholarship up to $12,600.

Landry Jenkins: A+ Scholarship up to $12,600, H.T. Harlin Scholarship $1,000, Verne and Verla Cubbage Scholarship $1,000, Gainesville Community Teachers Assoc. Scholarship $350, GHS Student Council Scholarship $300, White River Electric Operation Round Up Scholarship $1,500 renewable, BBC Guarantee Award $2,000 renewable, BBC Early Completion Award $1,000, BBC Leadership/Ministry Award $1,000, and BBC Men’s Basketball Scholarship $2,000. 

Sam Kinworthy: C of O Cost of Education Scholarship $78,000 and Summer Work Education Program - Room and Board Scholarship.

Jake Leeker: A+ Scholarship up to $12,600 and Three Rivers Baseball Scholarship.

Brittney Nielsen: A+ Scholarship up to $12,600, Missouri Western Univ. Griffon Guarantee Scholarship $400 and Missouri Western Univ. Griffon Guarantee A+ Scholarship $500. 

Ryan Poe: A+ Scholarship up to $12,600 and GHS Student Council Scholarship $300. 

Randi Smith: Missouri Western Univ. Griffon Guarantee Scholarship $2,000 and Bumper to Bumper Scholarship $500.

Victoria Smith: A+ Scholarship up to $12,600. 

Debra Winrod: A+ Scholarship up to $12,600, Century Bank Scholarship $1,000, MARE/EdCounsel HS Senior Scholarship $500, Schliemann Center Josee Schliemann Scholarship $500, Margo Murray Scholarship $2,500, Gainesville Community Teachers Assoc. Scholarship $350, Patsy Hambelton Memorial Scholarship $500 and Crowder College Softball Scholarship.

 

Citizenship awards

The Citizenship Award recipients were Hallee Donley & Landry Jenkins. These students are recognized by the faculty for the example they set for their fellow students by modeling outstanding scholarship, attitude, responsibility, respect, leadership and cooperation.

 

Vocational accomplishments

CNA: The students earned their CNA certification through a two-year program at Gainesville High School, logging many hours in training at school and at the nursing home and completing their coursework with Mrs. Cheyenne Nash. Upon passing the CNA test, they were awarded their certificates.

South Central Career Center vocational training: The following students rode the bus to the South Central Career Center in West Plains everyday day for two years to complete this certification. 

Dymon Van Eperen and Jonathan Meals: welding; 

Kierstin Hill: commercial art and advertising; 

Hailey Hill: auto body collision; 

Aiyden Argent: information technology and commercial art and advertising;

Phoenix Rodgers: culinary arts;

ASE certification in auto mechanics: Randi Smith and Nate Richer

 

Armed forces

Marine Corps enlistees: Dymon Van Eperen and Jonathan Meals. Van Eperen enlisted into the motor transportation field and Meals enlisted to be aircrew. They left May 23 to enter basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.
