Lady Bulldogs grind out double overtime win against Seymour
In a nail-biter of a game last Thursday, the Gainesville Lady Bulldogs clawed away a win, topping the Seymour Lady Tigers 41 to 37 in double-overtime.
The memorable win was especially sweet for Gainesville’s three senior players, Sarah Hossman, Lakyn Suter and Jillian Morse, who were recognized at halftime during the Lady Bulldogs senior night. Jillian Morse led the scoring with 16 points for the Bulldogs, followed by freshman Addie Alms with 12 and Sarah Hossman with 8
Sarah Hossman led the rebounding column with 13 and Addie Alms led in assists with 4. Hossman also led in steals with 6.
The Lady Bulldogs faced the Ava Bears in the away gym last Friday night, Feb. 9, and brought home a big 44-25 victory., bringing their season record to 15-8.
Addie Alms led the scoring with 20 points, followed by Andrea Winrod with 10 and Jillian Morse with 7. Laney Suter added 4, and Sarah Hossman chipped in 3. Winrod led in rebounds with 10, followed by Alms and Morse with 8 each.
Monday’s last scheduled home game against Norwood was canceled due to weather.
The Lady Bulldogs are set to play at Conway on Thursday this week, the last scheduled game before the class 2 district 10 tournament, which will be held Feb. 19-23. The Gainesville girls are set to face off against intra-county competitor, the Dora Lady Falcons, at 7:30 p.m. that night.
