Lions Club auction is April 27
Summer ball is just around the corner, and the Gainesville Lions Club is gearing up for the season with its 25th Annual Lions Club Dinner and Auction set for Friday, April 27, at Gainesville High School.
Members of the Gainesville Lions Club conduct the dinner and auction to raise money to help with summer baseball, softball and T-ball programs.
More than 400 youth from communities throughout the county participate in the summer ball program. The funds will be used to help with operating costs such as purchasing baseballs, softball equipment, hiring umpires, paying utility bills, maintenance and upkeep.
Items and services have been donated by local merchants and friends of the Lions Club and will be sold to the highest bidder. The supper begins at 6 p.m. with a silent auction at 6:15 p.m. The regular auction gets under way at 7 p.m. in the library. A donation of $1 entitles the ticket holder to dinner, as well as entry into several drawings. Tickets can be purchased from any Gainesville Lion or at all Century Bank of the Ozarks locations in Gainesville, Theodosia, Bakersfield and Ava.
A separate raffle will be held in a drawing to win half an angus steer and $250 cash. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and may be purchased at any Century Bank of the Ozarks location or the night of the auction.
Organizers say the list of items and services is extensive and includes home entertainment items, lawn and garden equipment, power tools, clothing, pontoon boat trips, savings bonds, baked goods, dining and shopping certificates, advertising, art and novelty items, auto needs, food items and much, much more.
