Zanoni news: July 11, 2018

We went back to olden times Tuesday night. When the storm came up, our power was off until after dark. We still have the old-fashioned kerosene lamps, so we used one until the power came on.
We hope everyone had a good July 4th with no accidents of any kind.
Our neighbor Leroy Morrison brought us some new potatoes, the ones you boil without peeling them first. They were good. Mary Morrison gave us a mess of green beans. John Steffenson gave Paul some cucumbers, and we made pickles out of them. It's nice to have good neighbors.
Sunday morning, we had a dead deer in the driveway by the mailbox. I guess someone's vehicle looks a little bit different now.
Paul helped Richard Terry fix some sideboards on the trailer, and Richard went for watermelons and cantaloupes on Tuesday.
Our preacher, Vic Williams, was on vacation two Sundays. The first Sunday, Jake Long gave the sermon, and on the second Sunday it was Cole Denton. Both were good.
For the last year or so, we have celebrated the Fourth by going for a long drive to somewhere we've never been before. This Fourth we drove to the Big Spring State Park at Van Buren. The springwater coming out of the rock hillside was amazing. There were a lot of people camping out and enjoying the water across from the spring, which finally runs into the Current River.
Norma Morrison visited her daughter and family in Springfield Sunday. We still have the roadrunners around. They were in the front yard a few days ago. Our prayers are with the sick folks.
Everyone have a good week and keep your garden and flowers watered. We hope it rains in a few days.
