Local high school golfers compete at state meet
Lutie High School golfer Sam Wynn placed 10th at the 2024 Class 1 District 3 golf meet and 38th at the state competition.
Ozark County’s high school golf teams had several competitors who participated in the 2024 Class 1 State golf meet, held May 13-14 in Joplin. During the first day of competition, the golfers placed (Results of the second day were not available at presstime but will be included in next week’s edition):
• Sam Wynn, a Lutie High School golfer, placed 10th at the Class 1 District 3 meet, held May 6 in Clinton, with a score of 83. He advanced to the state competition where he took 38th place with a score of 90.
• Conner James Jones, a Bakersfield High School golfer, took 19th place in the Class 1 District 1 golf meet, held May 6 in Springfield. He advanced to the state competition where he took 51st place with a score of 92.
• Harmon Dale Johns, a Gainesville High School golfer, placed 11th in the Class 1 District 1 golf meet, held May 6 in Springfield. He advanced to the state competition where he took 67th place with a score of 95.
• Kyden Timothy Alvardo, a Bakersfield High School golfer, placed 15th in the Class 1 District 1 golf meet, held May 6 in Springfield. He advanced to the state competition where he took 76th place with a score of 99.
