Microwave starts fire that levels home

An Isabella woman's home was destroyed by fire early Thursday morning after a late-night microwave meal sparked the blaze.

According to Theodosia Volunteer Fire Department chief Norman Jarrett, the home of Patsy Sewell in Isabella was considered a total loss.

Jarrett said his department was called out at about 2:15 a.m. Thursday. Pontiac VFD also responded to assist in fighting the fire.

"It was fully involved by the time we arrived," Jarrett said. The chief said the homeowner said she was making her dinner in the microwave when the fire apparently started in the appliance.

There were no injuries in association with the blaze.
