Christopher Bales wins most votes in Bakersfield School Board race; Scott and Zimmer are tied

Bakersfield School Board candidates Christopher Bales, Michael Scott and Mike Zimmer

Two three-year positions were up for election Tuesday on all five Ozark County School districts, but school board elections were held only in Bakersfield and Gainesville, where the number of candidates exceeded the number of terms expiring. Missouri law allows government entities to skip elections when the number of candidates equals the number of terms expiring, as was the case in Dora, Lutie and Thornfield.

In the Bakersfield school board race, Christopher Bales received the most votes, 103, and the other two candidates, Michael Scott and Mike Zimmer tied with 100 votes each. Ozark County Clerk Brian Wise said Tuesday night the issue of how the tie is broken will be decided later by the Bakersfield School District.

Scott is an incumbent. The other incumbent, Scott Denton, did not file for re-election.
