Brand-new bus for Mark Twain School

Mark Twain School superintendent Joe Donley and secretary Michelle Collins were happy to see a brand-new bus roll into the school’s parking lot last week. The school received the new bus thanks to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Diesel Emissions Reduction Act and the Volkswagen Trust. Donley applied for the new bus in August 2018, and Mark Twain, a K-8 school, was chosen as one of 29 financially disadvantaged schools to receive a bus. School bus replacements are helping DNR achieve several goals through its $12 million Beneficiary Mitigation Plan funded through the Volkswagen Trust. In addition to the specific goal of helping school districts replace their aging school bus fleets, new buses also help achieve Missouri’s overall goal of reducing diesel emissions. This new bus replaced a 1993 model, which will be destroyed as the rules of the grant stipulate.
