Bad luck or bad location - or maybe a little of both

Regular drivers of W Highway may have experienced a bit of deja vu last week when passing by this little white home, located on the sharp curve on W Highway near County Road 609, after a vehicle smashed into the side of the building, leaving a second hole in its side. The two photos above were taken by Becky Wyant, manager of Anchor Down Resort in Pontiac (located next door to the home). Wyant took the photo located above last week after a driver of a red Chevy pickup truck missed the sharp curve just prior to the home and smashed into the wall. The photo, above right, shows a very similar situation, which occurred last spring. The two crashes were just 16 days from being exactly a year apart. The crash last year occurred on May 25, 2022, and the crash this year occurred on May 9. Wyant says that there was no one home at the time of either crash. No serious injuries are reported by the Missouri State Highway Patrol online crash reports. The homeowners live out-of-the-area, but the home is utilized as a lake home during the summer months and during other visits to Ozark County.
