Bakersfest, the annual fall festival at Bakersfield, is this Saturday, Sept. 9. This year’s theme is “Walk the Streets of Bakersfield.”

The festival will include live music, a car and motorcycle show, food, vendors, drawings, crafts, games and much more. The event will begin Saturday morning with activities in and around Pride Park pavilion.

Live music will be provided, and there will be a special “salute to veterans” during the festivities.

The car/motorcycle show registration is set for 9 a.m. to noon and includes entry fees of $15 for the first car, $10 for the second car and $5 for each additional car after that. There will be awards for the top 50 cars, and special awards for  longest distance, best paint, best interior, best of show and mayor’s choice. Awards will be given out at 3 p.m.

A cornhole tournament is also being held at Pride Park. The cost is $30, and it is a double elimination style tournament with a single division. Five games are guaranteed, and all ages are welcome. There is a 100 percent payout including 70 percent to first place, 20 percent to second place and 10 percent to third place. Registration and free play starts at 9 a.m., and games start at 10 a.m. For more information on the cornhole tournament contact Cory at 417-372-3891.

The event, which is in its 25th year at Bakersfield, usually draws hundreds of visitors, and the car show is typically one of the best in the region.

Free vendor spaces are available, organizers said.
