Concrete truck rollover causes road closure on J
A concrete truck rollover crash closed J Highway in the Howards Ridge area for some time last Friday, June 28.
The Ozark County Sheriff’s Department dispatch report shows that a call came into the office at 9:30 a.m. that day from a caller who said they thought there might’ve been a crash. The caller said the concrete truck driver’s cell phone had sent a notification to them saying there had been an impact, and when the caller tried to contact the driver, no one picked up the phone.
The photos here, taken by Ed Doiron with a drone, show the route that the Mountain Home Concrete truck was traveling. It was heading southbound on J Highway when it ran off the right side of the road across from the driveway in the photo above, over-corrected and came to rest on the left side of the road.
There were no injuries reported, but the truck, which was filled with concrete, had rolled on its side and came to rest in the ditchline.
Lick Creek, Tecumseh and Bakersfield VFDs responded, along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Ozark County Ambulance.
A tow truck was called and responded to the scene, where they tried to right the concrete truck and load it onto a truck but were unsuccessful due to the weight of the vehicle and its load. Instead, the truck was disassembled, so it could be hauled away in separate, lighter pieces.
