Venita “Judy” Robertson, 80

 

Funeral services for Venita June “Judy” Robertson, 80, of Thornfield, were held May 28, 2024, in the Clinkingbeard Chapel in Ava with burial in the Thornfield Cemetery. Officiating was Brother Doyle D. Turner and Brother Gaylon Turner. 

She died May 23, at her home with her family by her side.

Judy was born Dec. 30, 1943, in Seattle, Washington to Coy and Christene (Wilson) Turner while they were working in the shipyards during WWII. They moved from Washington to her home in Ozark County when she was 2 years old. She started school at IGO and finished grade school at Thornfield. During her freshmen year of high school, she attended School of the Ozarks at Point Lookout and then graduated from Bradleyville High School.

On May 28, 1961, Judy and Wendell Rex Robertson were united in marriage at Thornfield and together were blessed with four children.

Judy worked hard as a dairy farmer for many years. Her side jobs were varied and many. When she retired from farming, she worked at Big Cedar Lodge at Ridgedale. She retired there after working 18 years.

She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Judy also enjoyed reading and most of all spending time with her family. Judy was a Christian. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  

Judy is survived by her children and their spouses: Sherry and Mike Garrison, Kelly and Mark Evans and Melanie Oxner; daughter-in-law, Sherri Robertson; 10 grandchildren: Whitney, Blake, Lindsie, Sarah, Sam, Hannah, Rebekah, Luke, Kara and Kris;  four great-grandchildren: Jack, Easton, Reed, Avery and one on-the-way, Kade; her brother, Adrian Turner and his wife Patty; her very good friend, Norma Evans; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rex; her son, Kevin; son-in-law, Vince; one sister, Evelyn; and her great-grandson, Bryce Evans.
