Walter J. Dudek Jr., 76,

Walter J. Dudek Jr., 76, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, died Saturday Feb. 18, 2023. 

He was born Jan. 23, 1947 in Chicago Heights, Illinois, to the late Walter J. Dudek Sr. and Grace Dudek. 

He married his wife Lynda on Dec. 8, 1970, at First Christian Church of Chicago Heights, Illinois. 

He graduated from Bloom High School and then Bloom Community College, where he was class president, and Culver Stockton College of Canton, Missouri.

He proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine. He retired from J&L Steel Company, in East Chicago, Indiana. He moved to Mountain Home in 2009 from Park Forest, Illinois, and was a member of First Christian Church in Gainesville.

Mr. Dudek loved to fish and was a tour guide for Bull Shoals Dam power house, an interpreter for Bull Shoals visitor center where he greeted and answered questions for over a 1,000 guests a year, was a Word War I re-enactor who helped to build a WWI airplane on the second floor of a warehouse, Wild Chicago, and did two programs on the project.

He won over 40 trophies for his replica British motorcycle at various car shows. He was involved in many community activities including Paws of Love therapy dogs of Mountain Home, served as a director of the Promise Land Community Center, was member of Circle K club at Culver-Stockton College and organizer of bowling and volleyball teams for Chicago Heights Church. He was also a deacon for both a Chicago Heights and Gainesville First Christian Church.

Mr. Dudek is survived by his wife Lynda of the home, son Walter J. Dudek III of Warrenville, Illinois, sister Debra Snyder and brother in-law Eric Snyder of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, niece Amanda Snyder, nephew Richard Snyder, also of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, and Charles Polacek of Mountain Home.
