Lyla Amyx Kunes, 93

Lyla F. Kunes, 93, of Mill Hall, Pennsylvania, died May 30, 2020, at Haven Skilled Rehabilitation and Nursing in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. A private family memorial service was held.

She was born Jan. 18, 1927, in Gainesville, the daughter of Curtis S. and Georgia A. Wheeler Amyx. She graduated from Gainesville High School and then practiced as a beautician.  On May 14, 1953, in Nebraska, she married Robert S. Kunes. They were married 60 years before his death in 2014.

She was a member of the Mill Hall Church of Christ and the Women of the Moose. She was also an avid bowler.

Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Bowles and husband Bill of South Carolina and Roberta Shawley (her mother’s caretaker for 11 years) and husband Dennis of Mill Hall; a daughter-in-law, Janis Kunes of Mackeyville; a brother, Cleon Amyx of Ozark, formerly of Gainesville; six grandchildren, Billy and Ian Bowles, Joe Shawley and wife Bailey, David Shawley and wife Gina, and Ryan and Katelyn Kunes; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Robert S. Kunes Jr.; a grandson, Clinton Bowles; three brothers and three sisters.
