Rebecca Boyd, 71
A graveside service for Rebecca Sue Friend Boyd, 71, of Gainesville, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2020, in Friend Cemetery. A come-and-go visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville. Ms. Boy died March 20 at Gainesville Health Care Center in Gainesville.
She was born Aug. 16, 1948, in Gainesville, one of the 11 children born to Efton and Juanita Murrill Friend. They were a large and loving family.
She worked more than 30 years at Baxter Healthcare (Baxter Lab) in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She loved to be outside gardening, doing yard work and collecting rocks. She loved her grandchildren more than anything. Her family was always very important to her. She was a real fighter who never quit and never gave up. Her battle for health was a long and enduring one, but she handled it with grit and grace. She was loved and will be missed by all.
She is survived by one granddaughter, Kandace Newton of Zanoni; four great-grandchildren, Conner Peirce of Sparta, Illinois, Shelby Smith, Jaxon Smith and Briar Smith, all of Zanoni; four siblings, George Friend, Nettie Sue Friend, Charlie Friend and Wilma Pendergrass; ex-husband Gene Loftis and wife Frances; her best friend, Lyndell Boyd; and numerous extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Brian Loftis and Angie Loftis Newton; one granddaughter, Duste Peirce; and six siblings, Eva June Friend, Lawrence Friend, Mary Bates, Benny Friend, O.J. Friend and Betty Garfit.
